The future of lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries found in laptops, phones, hybrid cars and other applications may be taking shape at a UK startup. Nexeon Ltd. has built a plant at its headquarters in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, to produce a silicon anode it developed that significantly improves the energy density and operating life of Li-ion batteries.
Equipped with ultra-modern fluidic muscles and piezo valve technology from Festo, RoboThespian is captivating crowds around the world.
On gravity-loaded axes in machines and systems, there is always a potential risk of crashing loads. In order to protect people and materials reliably against injury and damage in spite of this risk, mayr power transmission has therefore long provided a full-quality safety brake for vertical axes which has been tested by the TÜV (German Technical Inspectorate) with its ROBA-linearstop.
Emco Wheaton claims to be poised to change the face of the bulk fluid transfer industry with the launch of two new products, the EW Selector and the Combi-Cabinet. The company comments that the new products have been designed to make the process of delivering bulk liquids safer, quicker and more effective.
Camozzi has expanded its range of air treatment solutions with the introduction of Series MD, a new range of modular FRLs.
RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc., the global distributor for engineers, has introduced a significant extension to its range of pneumatic components from SMC. Targeting machine builders developing new pneumatics-based applications as well as maintenance engineers, the additions to the SMC pneumatic components range comprise more than 600 products; including cylinders, actuators, valves, fittings, assemblies, filters, lubricators, regulators, hoses and air-preparation devices.
The new UK Short Form Catalogue (Release 8.7) from Camozzi Pneumatics Ltd. has been launched.
SMC’s EX600 serial interface unit for its EtherNet/IP compatible design has three outstanding new features that improve the overall benefits and flexibility of the product. A dual port allows a trio of topologies for the connection, providing greater security and equipment and wire savings.
Arknet Ltd., based near Reading, has developed a PLC controlled commercial shower system that offers installation and operational cost saving in a design that does not require plumbing behind tiled walls and usage benefits such as variable water delivery duration and individual shower head valve control.
Asco Numatics has introduced its 652 Series filter, regulator, and lubricator (FRL) line of air preparation products. The 652 Series features high flow characteristics and the widest high- and low-temperature ratings of any FRL – making it suitable for a broad range of applications.
Chris Walsh, UK sales manager for Asco Numatics, commented that, with its particularly high flow rates, the all-new 652 Series FRL “assures original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and maintenance managers that air preparation products from Asco Numatics will optimise their machine performance”. In addition, he added that the 652 Series’ extended high- and low-temperature capabilities (-40degC to 80degC) “allow it to be specified across a broad range of applications, including those within harsh environments”.
These modular FRL products have a robust construction and are easy to assemble, mount, and position. In addition, their new manifold endplate flanges allow the maintenance technician to pull the manifold assembly out of service without disconnecting the piping. The product line is available in three port sizes ranging from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch (NPTF, G, or R threads).
The new EBR-PN bridge pull handle from Elesa enables use of remote air control for interlocking, multiple latching systems etc. where electrical systems are not considered safe or where they may be subject to corrosion. Push button operation of the integral valve, together with manually gripping the handle permits one-handed opening of doors, equipment, safety guards etc.
Pneumatics solutions provider, SMC, has designed an easy to install pressure sensor for non-corrosive gas or liquids that reduces operating costs.
At this year’s PPMA show pneumatic and electric drive technology provider, Festo, showcased a number of its new developments, concepts and solutions for the food and beverage sector. Visitors to the stand were able to discuss how they can increase productivity in different ways by considering efficiency, simplicity, security and accessing Festo’s key competencies.
Beko Technologies’ Metpoint OCV monitoring system has been successfully validated from BfArM (German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) as a method to determine residual oil content within medical compressed air. The validation has been executed and achieved within a strong co-operation project of a global gas company and Beko Technologies.
The trend in avoiding compressed air as a drive medium in various production and assembly processes can result in a great deal of expense when it comes to stationary automated screw assembly. The Deprag Minimat air screwdrivers are said to guarantee reliability while retaining top functionality and torque accuracy.
